Checklist for Metal Detecting in England
Planning a Metal Detecting trip with the Colchester club? You might be surprised at the things you need. Below is my personal checklist that I have compiled and revise after every trip. All of these things may not relate to you but will give you a starting point and you can revise it to fit your personal needs. Please contact me with any questions. I'm happy to help ............Rob
1. Money (convert to POUNDS thru Wells Fargo online). This is for food, transportation, one night stay in London & personal wants.
2. Passport with photo copies in each suitcase
3. Plane ticket-computer print out
4. Metal detectors...1 or 2 choice
5. Rain covers for metal detectors-zip locks with zippers work great
6. Two pair of headphones
7. Batteries, battery tester, battery chargers for metal detectors. (Also real battery back-ups)
8. Pin pointers-2
9. Extra batteries for pin pointer and wireless headphones (9 volt-about 3 and AA's about 20)
10. Bags with white stripes. Zip-locks are great. Medium and Large. These are for your finds.
11. Extra coil for detector- BigFoot!
12. Pocket case for special finds. Pocket size tackle box or medicine bottle.
13. "Finds" apron.
14. Cleaning brush for finds and for cleaning up boots, etc. at the end of the hunt
15. Hand bag or back pack for field use (my blue rain proof duffle type)
16. Shaving equipment
17. Tooth brush/tooth paste
18. Soap and toiletries
19. Magnifying glass
20. PRESCRIPTIONS MEDS and Advil, Tylenol, Alieve and Tylenol PM.
21. White medical tape/ self cling tape/First aid kit
22. Small flashlight
23. Rain suit-very good quality a must!
24. Hats-2
25. Boots. My rubber "Muck" boots.
26. Water proof and wind proof jacket with hood! Like my Gray one. Seasonal
27. Clothing (shirts/pants/underwear/socks/hooded sweat shirt/my blue denim shirt)
28. Publix (grocery store) type plastic bags for things. Bigger one for boots.
29. Carry-on plane suitcase for detectors
30. I-Pod with noise canceling head phones
31. Power converter for recharging batteries, cameras, etc.
32. Icy hot or Mineral Ice / chap stick
33. Sneakers and sandals....muddy boots are not allowed
34. Plastic puddy knife for mud on boots and coil.
35. Cameras (flip video and still shot)
36. Hunt vest
37. Knee pads. The type that has a hard plastic front are great for muddy situations.
38. Swingy thingy......saves me a lot of backaches!
39. Digging gloves-2 pair-plus pink latex water proof
40. Diggers not needed, long handle shovels supplied
41. Wash cloths....they don't have them over there?
42. Extra pair of glasses and readers
43. Suspenders
44. I-Pad for Skype calling
45. International cell phone with charger
46. Water bottle (camel back not needed)
47. Handkerchiefs
48. Black Sharpie for logging your finds
49. Head lamp for night hunting
50. Pocket watch. I have this on my hunt vest.
51. Pajamas
52. Long sleeve thermal shirt and pants......nice on those Spring freezing mornings. Seasonal
53. Wax ear plugs....for those snoring roommates
54. Total pillow (personal thing)
55. Wool face mask/hand warmers/toe warmers-seasonal
56. Light weight alarm clock
57. Foldover coin pouches for my good coin finds/identification.
58. Empty out my wallet
59. Ear loop mask or air purifyer for long plane ride. (do not breathe the germs).
